Recently remodelled, this house offers Canadian standard amenities seldom found in rental accommodations in this area:  High-speed Wi-Fi, 50-inch flat screen TV, gated and covered carport, just to name a few.

This home is conveniently located on Calle 25, just one block from the Malecon and the second row back from the oceans edge (200 steps from the front door to having your feet in the ocean).  This house is walking distance to the heart of Progresos downtown life and services and less than a mile away from the city’s local market where you can pick up your fresh fish, fruits, vegetables and flowers every morning.

Downstairs features the main living area of the house:  entrance room, living room, full bath, office nook, dining room and kitchen.  The kitchen is equipped with granite counters, cedar wooden cabinets and all new luxury appliances. Exiting the dining area through oversized patio doors is a covered terrace leading out to the mid-sized pool, patio and BBQ areas.

From the terrace there is a circular staircase leading up from the pool area to an 8‑foot balcony outside the master bedroom. This balcony, which overlooks the pool, has two large patio doors to enter the enormous master bedroom.  The master bedroom features a kingsize and a queensize bed.

The good sized second bedroom has a queensize bed and a view of the ocean two rows away.  Both bedrooms have ample drawer and closet space.

There is another room with a sofa-bed which leads to a balcony facing the ocean where you can sit and relax and enjoy the breeze in comfortable loungers.

In the central area on the second floor is a TV/family room featuring a 50-inch flat screen TV and comfortable living room furniture.

This house can accommodate up to 6 to 8 persons.

A magical experience in the real Mexico. I wanted to visit Mexico for a variety of reasons, two of which were to practice my Spanish and to see some of the historical sites. I am not really a fan of allinclusives, so I was looking for some kind of alternative. Casa Chaos in the town of Progreso provided the ultimate solution. The house is huge, clean, comfortable, well-located and fully-equipped (having a washer/dryer was a true luxury!). I spent my days driving all around the state of Yucatan, and found the experience truly delightful. Driving through (and of course sometimes getting lost in!) the small towns in the area gave me exactly what I was looking for. So many awesome sights within easy driving distance. And having a pool waiting at home at the end of the day was an absolute delight. I personally dont do much (any) cooking, but the nearby markets as well as the kitchen itself mean that fine dining can be done either in-house or at any of the restaurants along the Malecon. I cant say enough about the quality of service I received as well. The Yucatan Vacations staff (Sylvia, Pamela and Gabriel) were very attentive to my every need, and were also endlessly patient with my attempts at Spanish. The girls met me my first afternoon in Merida with the rental car, and ensured that I made it safely onto the highway to Progreso. From that point on finding the house was simple. Gabriel was waiting for me at the house to give me the keys and a tour. He was also kind enough to drive me back to Merida when it was time to return to Cancun. I would highly recommend Casa Chaos for anyone who is interested in an authentic Mexican experience. I guess that the only downside is that after a week in the heart of the Yucatan the over-commercialized tourist area in Cancun was kind of a letdown. And am I going to go back again? Absolutely!!

Just back from our trip to Progreso, Mexico, where my husband and I stayed at Casa Chaos. This rental was incredibly convenient - as it is in the town proper, yet just two short blocks from the beach. The house is very well equipped, and I enjoyed cooking some light meals during our stay, using the fresh fruit and veg that I bought at the market. We had a peaceful, quiet stay - relaxing, reading, cooking, and I managed to sleep in every day. What a luxury! When I ran out of books to read, I dropped by Yucatan Vacations to pick up a few more. While we spent a considerable amount of time lounging by the pool in the backyard, we also walked into Progreso regularly, for groceries, coffees and drinks, dinners out and visits to the beach. My husband went running every couple of nights on the malecon. We found the town in February very calm - just the way we wanted it - though it was busier on the weekends. We also visited Merida (about a half hour away), Chicxulub, the Loltun Caves and the Dzibilchaltun Mayan ruins. My favourite activity - walking in to town, wandering around and looking in the shops, and then returning to Casa Chaos to enjoy a margarita by the pool as the sun set. I also always managed to pick up a sweet at the bakery counter of the supermarket, to satisfy my sweet tooth. All in all an incredibly relaxing stay. We will return.
